From a very Young age I played football and from 12 (maybe 15) years old I collect soccer shirts. I’ve had many in my hands and once in 2017 those shirts literally changed my life, why? Simply because they took me out of a strong economic crisis that Venezuela was going through.
Without realizing it, the Venezuelan crisis had enveloped me. As a journalist, I worked for a media outlet and one day my little son, 4 years old at the time, asked me for an ice cream in a shopping center in the city of Caracas after leaving work, but when we went to pay it, I realized that I didn’t even have money to offer an ice cream to my son; it devastated me.
I arrived home morally destroyed, the crisis had touched me without even realizing it. It was at that moment between so many thoughts, I looked at the closet and there was the solution. I discussed it with my wife and decided to get out all of my soccer shirts, all with the idea of buying tickets and leaving the country, as many Venezuelans did back then.
I had close to 100 football team shirts in my collection, many of which I had obtained as a young man, so I got down to business and began researching their value abroad.
That’s how I started selling them through the renowned eBay trading platform. I admit that it was hard, difficult, I sold many soccer shirts and sent them almost with tears in my eyes because this has always been my passion, but with the passing of days and months, just as they left, others began to arrive, my finances improved remarkably and I saw that this could be my livelihood and a very fruitful undertaking.
In 2019 RICHIE SHIRT was born on Instagram, a social network where I began to advertise my collection and also to sell all over the world, despite the fact that eBay no longer allows Venezuelans to sell from its platform, I have managed to continue marketing my shirts and that’s why at 2022 RICHIE SHIRT already has its own website.
In addition, I have managed to recover many of those that at the time I had to let go. I continue to increase my collection day by day and I have already separated it from the shirts that go directly to the online store.
I understood that every hobby ends up being an investment at the future and well, thanks to that investment I made at the age of 15, today I can say that my situation changed radically since 2017 and it was not by leaving Venezuela.
